The text message arrived at a strange moment in my life. I had just returned from helping my father confront the reality that he could no longer maintain the acreage he had called home for decades. As I thought about change, endings, and the passing of time, my phone buzzed with a notification that immediately caught my attention. Long-time readers of Time+Tide will know that I’ve been collecting replica watches UK for close to twenty years now, with a heavy focus on Rolex. While I’m not an empirical authority on the brand, I do consider myself a deep enthusiast and fortunate steward of the watches I’ve been able to own and experience. Even with this background, I was surprised to hear in late May from my local boutique that they had something special for me to consider acquiring. It was the new Rolex Oyster Perpetual ‘100 Years’ in a 36mm case. The reference 126003, to be exact.
I had read the articles and coverage from this year’s Watches & Wonders; however, with so much going on in my non-watch life, I think it was initially somewhat lost on me just how big a year this was for the Crown. Before my appointment at the boutique, I gave myself a refresher on the OP100, as we will call it going forward.
After poring over all the “introducing” articles, videos, and content out there, I felt increasingly drawn to the replica Rolex watches for sale, not because of the hype, but because it was the kind of celebratory piece that was beautifully low-key in the Rolex tradition. Over the years, I have learned that owning a watch and loving a watch are not necessarily the same thing, despite the “just buy it because it’s maybe a rare Rolex” energy that surrounds the brand. As I handled the OP100 for the first time, I realised there had been a shift in the way I shopped for watches.
The surprise wasn’t that it felt special. The surprise was how familiar it felt. Instead of the rush that often accompanies a new acquisition, I felt a sense of recognition. The green, the gold, the dial texture, all of it seemed to echo 1:1 Rolex replica watches that had passed through my collection over the years. The green logo and accompanying markers recalled an LV Submariner I once owned (and sold to pay for my children’s orthodontic work). Green is also a very personal colour for me, as I am actually quite colourblind, and many shades of green simply don’t register for me. The fact that I can see the ‘Rolex green’ is significantly meaningful in my visual world.
I’ve also been drawn to the warmth and elevation that yellow gold brings to a watch. I know I belong to a smaller group of watch enthusiasts who like two-tone applications, and my collecting habits over the years have never shunned two-tone references. That the OP100 brings a subtle twist on two-tone, with only a gold-domed bezel and crown, is exciting and novel. In this aspect, it helps me ruminate on the two-tone Daytona that graced my collection with its smooth but lustrous gold bezel.
The deep slate sunburst dial really clinches the connection to my collection. Over the years, sunburst dials have been some of my favourites to get lost in; turning them in different lights and seeing the texture radiate from the centre is mesmerising. Fond memories of my pie-pan Datejust to a beautiful blue Submariner come to mind, reminders that the sunburst dial has been a core tenet of my watch enjoyment for many years. What surprised me most was that none of these details would have justified purchasing the watch on their own.
The green, the gold, the dial, and the anniversary markings are individually small things. Together, they formed a watch that seemed to summarise many of the super clone Rolex store references I have enjoyed over the years. For perhaps the first time, I wasn’t evaluating new AAA Rolex fake watches against my collection. I was seeing my collecting journey reflected at me.
Much of the online excitement about the cheap fake Rolex watches focused on the special markings commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Oyster waterproof case. For any other brand, the special edition touches would have been considered too subtle. The “100 Years” text that replaces “Swiss Made” at the very bottom of the dial is about as small as you can get, and the “100” on the gold crown is not much bigger. That’s it, that’s all. No engravings on the case back or clasp… no cartoon characters, no changeable straps, nothing of the sort.
Still, for Rolex, these subtlest markings are exceptional. They are a small nod to a big anniversary. Would the watch world have accepted this Oyster Perpetual as the anniversary model had the markings been absent? Perhaps. The original green Submariner, the current Sea-Dweller 43, and the platinum Daytona are generally accepted as 50th-anniversary models without any text references. The Jubilee dials of the 1980s, and now revived for the other special 2026 Oyster Perpetual release, come close to an anniversary text; however fall short of calling out the actual event.
It seems that only a 100-year anniversary could justify disrupting the formula and placing the actual text on the dial and crown. It is reasonable to speculate that the watch world will have to wait until 2045 for the next 100th anniversary model, the Datejust, to possibly see this again.
I also appreciate that Rolex chose its most accessible collection rather than one of its precious-metal flagships to carry the anniversary banner. Something is fitting about the Oyster’s centennial being celebrated through high quality replica Rolex watches that remain (theoretically) within reach of ordinary enthusiasts rather than reserved exclusively for the highest tier of collectors.
At $10,700 (CAD), the Rolex Oyster Perpetual ‘100 Years’ costs less than an Omega Speedmaster Professional and is solidly at the low end of Rolex’s retail price range in 2026. I believe this was also a very calculated move for China Rolex replica watches, not ordaining the new all-gold OP models (at $50,000) with the anniversary status. The Oyster started out in 1926 as an aspirational yet achievable watch for people who needed something tough enough to tell time in the transformative early 20th Century.
I enjoy the idea of being able to wear this OP100 in almost any life situation. It remains to be seen whether the pressure of a presumably limited and special Rolex precludes this, as I’m already finding myself donning it more selectively than my other best selling copy Rolex watches.
After twenty years of studying Rolex, I finally realised that collecting isn’t about acquiring the perfect watch; rather, it is about understanding why certain watches continue to matter to me and the wider world. I’ve found top clone Rolex watches to help mark important milestones in my life and, in an interesting shift, a watch that is marking its own important milestone has found me.
